Why Are Dental Implants the Best Solution for Missing Teeth?

If you’re missing a single tooth or multiple teeth, if your dentist has told you that you have “hopeless” teeth that are to be removed, or you no longer have any remaining teeth, then dental implants may be the solution to restore your smile.

Did you know that leaving a missing tooth untreated can have long-term effects? When a tooth is missing, its neighboring teeth may shift, causing alignment issues, bite problems, and ultimately, jaw pain. Not replacing a tooth can also lead to bone loss because it no longer receives stimulation from the tooth root. Without the tooth root to stimulate the bone, your jawbone can start to shrink in width and height, changing the shape of your face over time. Getting dental implants at Smilebox Dental Clinic in Bangkok can prevent all of this by replacing the tooth and the root. It’s the best way to maintain your oral health in the long term.

SmileBox Dental Clinic offers the best options for dental implants and cosmetic treatments in Bangkok, Thailand. With specialists experienced in advanced digital implants, we offer precise and long-lasting solutions to restore your smile and oral health

Whether you’re replacing a single tooth or considering a full mouth restoration, our dental implant specialists at SmileBox in Bangkok deliver personalized treatment plans with the highest standard of care, with results that last. What are Dental Implants?

A long-term, life-changing solution for missing teeth at SmileBox Implant & Cosmetic Center, the top clinic in Bangkok, Thailand.

Dental Implants are high-grade titanium screws surgically placed into the jawbone. The design, length, and width of the implant vary depending on the volume of bone available.

After placement, the implant fuses with the jawbone through a process called osseointegration, allowing it to function just like the root of a natural tooth.

This innovative procedure provides a solid foundation for restorative options such as fixed crowns, bridges, or dentures to replace missing teeth and restore your smile. With dental implants, you can achieve permanent restoration and improved dental functionality.

How Long Does It Take to Complete Dental Implants?

At Smilebox Dental Clinic, Bangkok, dental implant treatment is typically done in two main phases:

1. Surgical Phase.

This is when the implant fixture is placed into your jawbone. Depending on your bone condition, additional procedures, such as bone grafting or sinus lifting, may be necessary to ensure a strong and stable foundation. These are routine procedures and help increase the success of your implant. Read more about bone graft and sinus lift here.

The procedure is done under local anesthesia, with post-op medication provided for your comfort. On average, surgery takes about 30–45 minutes per implant.

2. Prosthetic Phase.

After a healing period of at least 2 months, allowing the implant to bond with the bone (osseointegration), we begin the prosthetic phase.

Visit 1 : We take a digital scan or impression.
Visit 2 : (2–5 days later): The final crown is placed.

This two-step approach ensures long-term strength, function, and aesthetics. You can learn more about osseointegration in our FAQs section.

Before starting implant treatment, it’s important to assess and treat any existing dental issues on nearby or opposing teeth — such as cleaning, root planing, fillings, or root canal treatment — to ensure a healthy and stable oral environment for your implants.

Dental Implants FAQS

Types of Dental Implant Placement

Types of Dental Implant Stages

Every tooth plays an important role in your overall health, so it's important to replace any missing teeth. Losing a tooth, or several teeth, can affect much more than just your smile. It can cause serious health problems like bone loss in your jaw, which can lead to your gums receding and your remaining teeth becoming loose or even collapsing. Over time, this can also cause your face to lose its shape, making it harder to speak clearly and even making it difficult to eat, which can lead to problems like malnutrition.

Dental implants can help prevent bone loss and provide a lasting solution since they’re made from titanium and zirconia, a material that naturally bonds with your bone. Dental implants are designed to enhance your smile, stabilize dentures, and improve your ability to chew and speak more comfortably. Plus, they don’t decay as natural teeth do.

Having multiple missing teeth can impact your appearance, eating habits, and even your speech. Dental implants are made for replacing missing teeth and rebuilding your confidence. They’re ideal for replacing an individual tooth, multiple missing teeth, or even a full mouth of missing teeth. Read more about replacing many teeth with dental implants.

Implant dentures are dentures that are held in place by implants in the mouth. If you have loose or unstable dentures already, this could be the solution for you. Implant dentures can be secured in the jaw by using as few as two implants. Read more about removable overdenture stabilized on Dental Implants.

Implant bridges are a fixed solution to replace missing teeth. They’re used to replace a few missing teeth or even a full mouth of missing teeth for natural-looking, cosmetic, and functional results.

Many people believe that dental implants are painful. However, at SmileBox dental implant center in Bangkok, we want your experience to be as pain-free and as comfortable as possible. We use a local anesthetic for your treatment to ensure you feel no pain throughout.

Dental implants are the gold standard of dentistry; they’re designed to last between 20-30 years before needing replacement.

Yes, it’s possible to have a dental implant done in one day. There are two main approaches to same-day dental implants:

  1. Immediate implant placements: A dental implant can be placed immediately after a tooth extraction. This approach is known as "immediate implant placement." The tooth will be removed, and then the dental implant will be immediately inserted into the same socket. However, not all cases are suitable for immediate implant placement, and the oral surgeon will assess your specific situation to determine if this option is viable.
  2. All-on-4, All-on-6, full mouth rehabilitation, or teeth-in-a-day: This technique involves placing four (or 6) dental implants in a single arch (upper or lower) to support a full set of teeth, either a fixed bridge or denture, within one day. This approach is often used for patients who are missing all or most of their teeth and want a quick and efficient solution.

It's important to note that not everyone is a candidate for same-day dental implants. Your oral health, the condition of your jawbone, and other factors will determine whether this option is suitable for you. Our Implantologists will need to complete a comprehensive consultation to assess your specific needs and to see whether you’re suitable for same-day dental implants.

All-on-4 is a type of implant surgery that’s used to maximize the use of available bone. It’s a perfect treatment for full mouth rehabilitation/reconstruction using just 4 dental implants placed into the jawbone; they’re placed at specific angles, which provide a secure foundation for a custom-made bridge or denture. Before the surgery, the doctor will take X-rays, photos, and scans of your mouth intra-orally and extra-orally. This is to assess the condition of the teeth, gums, bone, and surrounding soft tissues. After this, four implants are placed into the jawbone, and then bridges are attached to the implants. This is an immediate fixed solution to missing teeth.

All-on-6 dental implant treatment at our Bangkok clinic is a specialized procedure that involves the placement of six dental implants to support a full arch of replacement teeth. The procedure is similar to the All-on-4 dental implant treatment, but with the placement of two additional dental implants for extra support and stability.

During the All-on-6 dental implant procedure, the dentist will place 6 dental implants in strategic locations in the jawbone. These implants will serve as the foundation for a custom-made bridge or denture that will be attached to the implants to restore the patient’s missing teeth.

The All-on-6 procedure typically requires two or three appointments over the course of several months. The first appointment involves a thorough examination and consultation to determine the patient’s eligibility for the procedure. During the second appointment, the dental implants are placed in the jawbone under local anesthesia or IV sedation. After the implants are placed, there will be a healing period of several months to allow the implants to fuse with the jawbone. During this time, patients may wear temporary dentures or bridges. The final appointment involves the attachment of the permanent bridge or denture to the implants.

The price varies depending on the number of implants, the implant system used, bone condition, and the type of final restoration. After a consultation or virtual assessment, we will provide a clear treatment plan and cost breakdown. We also offer payment plan options.
