Why are dental implants the best solution for my missing teeth?

If you have a single missing tooth, some missing teeth, if your dentist has told you that you have “hopeless” teeth that are to be removed, or you no longer have any remaining teeth, then dental implants may be the answer

Did you know that leaving a missing tooth untreated can have long-term effects? Without a tooth, your neighboring teeth may shift, causing alignment issues, bite problems, and ultimately jaw pain. Not replacing a tooth can also lead to bone loss. Without the tooth root to stimulate the bone, your jawbone can start to shrink (both in width and height), changing the shape of your face over time. Dental implants prevent all of this by replacing both the tooth and the root. It’s the best way to maintain your oral health long-term.

SmileBox Dental Clinic is the best choice for dental implants and cosmetic treatments in Bangkok, Thailand. Specializing in advanced digital implants, we offer precise, long-lasting solutions to restore both your smile and oral health.

Whether you’re replacing a single tooth or considering a full mouth restoration, SmileBox Implant and Cosmetic Center delivers the highest standard of care, with results that last. Trust us to transform your smile with the precision of digital implants and improve your overall quality of life.

What Are Dental Implants?

A long-term, life-changing solution for missing teeth at SmileBox Implant & Cosmetic Center, the top clinic in Bangkok, Thailand.

Dental Implants are high-grade titanium screws surgically placed into the jawbone. The design, length, and width of the implant vary depending on the volume of bone available.

After placement, the implant fuses with the bone through a process called osseointegration, allowing it to function just like the root of a natural tooth.

This innovative procedure provides a solid foundation for restorative options such as fixed crowns, bridges, or dentures to replace missing teeth and restore your smile. With dental implants, you can achieve permanent restoration and improved dental functionality.

How long does it take to finish my implants?

Dental implant treatment is typically done in two main phases:

1. Surgical Phase. This is when the implant fixture is placed into your jawbone. Depending on your bone condition, additional procedures like bone grafting or sinus lifting may be required to ensure a strong and stable foundation. These are routine procedures and help increase the success of your implant. Read more about bone graft and sinus lift here

The procedure is done under local anesthesia, with post-op medication provided for your comfort. On average, surgery takes about 30–45 minutes per implant.

2. Prosthetic Phase. After a healing period of at least 2 months, allowing the implant to bond with the bone (osseointegration), we begin the prosthetic phase.

Visit 1 : We take a digital scan or impression.
Visit 2 : (2–5 days later): The final crown is placed.

This two-step approach ensures long-term strength, function, and aesthetics. You can learn more about osseointegration in our FAQs section.

Before starting implant treatment, it’s important to assess and treat any existing dental issues on nearby or opposing teeth — such as cleaning, root planing, fillings, or root canal treatment — to ensure a healthy and stable oral environment for your implants.

Dental Implants FAQ

135

136

Every tooth plays an important role in your overall health, so it's important to replace any missing teeth.

Losing a tooth, or several teeth, can affect much more than just your smile. It can cause serious health problems like bone loss in your jaw, which can lead to your gums receding and your remaining teeth becoming loose or even collapsing. Over time, this can also cause your face to lose its shape, make it harder to speak clearly, and even make it difficult to eat, leading to problems like malnutrition.

Dental implants can help stop bone loss and provide a lasting solution since they are made from titanium and zirconia, a material that naturally bonds with your bone.

Dental implants are designed to improve your smile, stabilize dentures, and help you chew and speak more comfortably. Plus, they don’t decay like natural teeth do.

A: Having multiple missing teeth can impact your lifestyle, eating habits, and even your speech. Dental Implants are made for replacing missing teeth and rebuilding your confidence. They are ideal for replacing an individual tooth, multiple missing teeth, or even full mouth missing teeth.

A: Implant dentures are dentures that are held in place by implants in the mouth. If you have loose or unstable dentures already this could be the solution for you. Implant dentures can be secured in the jaw by using as little as two implants. Read more about Removable Overdenture Stabilized on Dental Implants.

A: Implant bridges are a fixed solution to replace missing teeth. They are used to replace a few missing teeth or even a full mouth of missing teeth. They provide great cosmetic results.

A: Many people believe that dental implants are painful. However, at SmileBox Dental we want your experience to be pain-free and as comfortable as possible. We use local anaesthetic for your treatment, this ensures you feel no pain throughout.

A: Dental Implants are the gold standard of dentistry, they are designed to last between 20-30 years before needing replacement.

A: Yes, it is possible to have a dental implant done in one day. There are two main approaches to same-day dental implants:

1.Immediate Implant Placements: A dental implant can be placed immediately after a tooth extraction this approach is known as "immediate implant placement." The tooth will be removed then immediately insert the dental implant into the same socket. However, not all cases are suitable for immediate implant placement, and the oral surgeon will assess your specific situation to determine if this option is viable.

2.All-on-4, All-on-6, Full Mouth Rehabilitation or Teeth-in-a-Day: This technique involves placing four (or 6) dental implants in a single arch (upper or lower) to support a full set of teeth (either a fixed bridge or denture) all in one day. This approach is often used for patients who are missing all or most of their teeth and want a quick and efficient solution.

It's important to note that not everyone is a candidate for same-day dental implants.

Your oral health, the condition of your jawbone, and other factors will determine whether this option is suitable for you.

Our Implantologists will need to complete a comprehensive consultation to assess your specific needs and to see whether you are suitable for same-day dental implants.

A: All-on-4 is a type of implant surgery that is used to maximise the use of available bone. It is a perfect treatment for full mouth rehabilitation/reconstruction using just 4 dental implants placed into the jawbone, they are placed at specific angles which provides a secure foundation for a custom-made bridge or denture. Before the surgery, the Doctor will take X-rays, photos, and scans of your mouth intra-orally and extra-orally. This is to assess the condition of the teeth, gums, bone, and surrounding soft tissues.  After this, four implants are placed into the jaw bone, then bridges are attached to the implants. This is an immediate fixed solution to missing teeth.

A: All-on-6 dental implant treatment is a specialised procedure that involves the placement of six dental implants to support a full arch of replacement teeth. The procedure is similar to the All-on-4 dental implant treatment, but with the placement of two additional dental implants for extra support and stability.

During the All-on-6 dental implant procedure, the dentist will place six dental implants in strategic locations in the jawbone. These implants will serve as the foundation for a custom-made bridge or denture that will be attached to the implants to restore the patient’s missing teeth.

The All-on-6 procedure typically requires two or three appointments over the course of several months. The first appointment involves a thorough examination and consultation to determine the patient’s eligibility for the procedure. During the second appointment, the dental implants are placed in the jawbone under local anesthesia or IV sedation. After the implants are placed, there will be a healing period of several months to allow the implants to fuse with the jawbone. During this time, patients may wear temporary dentures or bridges. The final appointment involves the attachment of the permanent bridge or denture to the implants.
