Your Braces Journey
Completing consultation
Our first step is to assess your dental health and determine if fixed braces are the right option for you. During this consultation, we will also discuss your goals and expectations for treatment.
Pre-Braces Procedures
Before starting your treatment, it is important to ensure that any existing dental issues, such as cavities or gum disease, are treated. This may involve procedures like fillings, root canals, or wisdom teeth removal.
Digital Scan
Once we have determined that braces are a good option for you, we will use the latest digital technology to scan your teeth and use them for analysis. This is done using an iTero scanner, which is a painless and non-invasive process.
Once we have your 3D file, all diagnostic tools including your photos and X-rays are merged and calibrated for proper analysis.
Bimler Analysis
The Bimler Analysis is an in-depth analysis of the face and teeth structure to understand the jawline, the relationship between the nose, lips, and chin, whether you need any extractions, and whether any other auxiliaries are required in your treatment (such as plates). This involves accurately measuring the length and position of both the upper and lower jaw to determine their individual alignment.
Braces Placement
You will come into your appointment and your teeth will be cleaned and then dried. This is done before applying bonding glue to the brackets, which are then placed onto your teeth in a careful and aligned manner. An archwire is attached to the brackets using small elastic bands or other mechanisms, and additional accessories such as rubber bands may be attached to correct bite issues. After this has been completed, your orthodontist will provide you with instructions for caring for your braces, including proper oral hygiene, food restrictions, and scheduling follow-up appointments.
Braces Adjustment
When your braces are tightened, your orthodontist will either add new wire or adjust the existing one to maintain pressure on your teeth. While you may experience slight soreness or sensitivity following the procedure, the discomfort usually subsides after a few days.
Retainers
Once your orthodontic treatment is complete, we will remove your attachments and rescan your teeth to create your retainers. This ensures that your teeth remain in their new position and you can enjoy your new smile for years to come.
Not everyone is a candidate for orthodontic treatment. Depending on your specific needs, veneers or crowns may be a more suitable option. At SmileBox, we offer a wide range of dental treatments to meet your unique needs. Take a look at our other available treatment options here.
