Your Invisalign Journey
1. Consultation
Completing consultation
Our first step is to assess your dental health and determine if Invisalign® is the right option for you. During this consultation, we will also discuss your goals and expectations for treatment.
2. Pre-Invisalign Procedures
Clearing all necessary treatment
Before starting your Invisalign® treatment, it is important to ensure that any existing dental issues, such as cavities or gum disease, are treated. This may involve procedures like fillings, root canals, or wisdom teeth removal.
3. Digital Scan
Itero scanning
Once we have determined that Invisalign® is a good option for you, we will use the latest digital technology to scan your teeth and create a 3D file of your teeth and bite. This is done using an iTero scanner, which is a painless and non-invasive process.
4. CBCT Integration
In addition to the iTero scanning, we will also take a Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) scan. CBCT has become a very important part of dentistry, especially when treatment planning and using it as a diagnostic tool.
We get to view up to 3 more different views of the mouth:
✅ The crown and roots of the teeth only
✅ The crown, roots, and the bone
✅ The crown, roots, and semi-transparent bone
This helps our Doctors maximise the efficiency of the technology that we use at SmileBox so you can get more accurate simulation results, you get to see more detailed images of your teeth such as the real root renderings and bone visualisation and helps with more accurate Invisalign® treatment planning.
5. Digital Design
5.1 Photo Calibration
Once we have your 3D file and CBCT scan, all diagnostic tools including your photos, x-rays and CT scans are merged and calibrated for proper analysis.
5.2 Innovative Teeth Movement
Your Orthodontist will digitally design each of the tooth positions individually, this is to ensure that each tooth moves accurately and in line with the treatment plan, it involves moving the teeth up or down and modifying the side angulation and inclination of the teeth. Our SmileBox Orthodontists spend at least 5 hours per case doing this process.
5.3 Attachment Control
Your Orthodontist will design your attachments that will help keep your Invisalign® aligners in place and promote the movement of the teeth. These are custom designed for you individually, therefore the number and shape of attachments are different for each case.
5.4 Space Planning
Your orthodontist may need to make space for teeth movement, this is done by either stripping the teeth or extracting teeth if required. Your orthodontist will custom design your aligners individually for best results.
5.5 A Complete Treatment Plan for Best Results
During this stage, we will decide whether any other auxiliaries are needed during your orthodontic treatment. Such as SPBM, Elastics (button, hooks & jumps) miniscrews, and reverse pull headgear. Invisalign® also shows us the expected results if we plan to use elastics, this is so your Orthodontist and yourself can visualise the end results.
6. Clincheck Approval
We will discuss the treatment plan with you and show you a digital simulation of what your smile will look like after completing Invisalign® treatment. This is a great opportunity to ask any questions you may have and ensure that you are comfortable with the treatment plan. You will also see how many trays are needed, which will tell you how long treatment time will be.
With the superimposition tool, you can see the before and after of your teeth – all in one frame!
7. Insert aligners
On this day, our doctors will place attachments and show you how to wear and remove your aligners. We will also teach you how to brush, floss, and clean your aligners, and remind you how long you have to wear your aligners and how often to change them (after how many days). During this visit, your orthodontist will also discuss the do’s and don’ts of Invisalign®, introduce you to the Invisalign app, and give you your trays!
7.1 Regular Follow-ups
Throughout your Invisalign® treatment, we will schedule regular follow-up appointments to check on your progress. This could be via in-office follow-ups which could be every 1-3 months, where we will ensure that your teeth are moving as planned, check your oral hygiene, and address any issues or concerns that may arise. We will also give you more aligners if required and we can answer any of your questions that you may have.
7.2 Not in Bangkok or Thailand? We have got you covered.
If you are not local to Bangkok, we can provide follow-up appointments via Virtual Appointment, either through our Virtual Consultation Programme or the Invisalign® Application.
7.3 Virtual Care
Once you begin your Invisalign® journey with SmileBox Dental, you can download the My Invisalign® Application. This is a solution that allows our Doctors to virtually monitor your Invisalign® journey between in-office visits by reviewing photos that you can submit on the application.
There are also cleaning tips and maintenance advice available to you which will help educate you in ways to properly maintain your Invisalign® aligners, there is also a time log – a personal tracker to help you stay on track with your recommended Invisalign® wear time and your Doctor can also set reminders and notifications on your calendar to help you stay on track with your treatment and in-office appointments.
8. After completing treatment
Once your Invisalign® treatment is complete, we will remove your attachments and rescan your teeth to create your Vivera retainers. This ensures that your teeth remain in their new position and you can enjoy your new smile for years to come. With the Vivera Package, you will receive 3 sets of retainers. Having more sets prevents your retainers from breaking easily and also comes in handy if you misplace them!
Not everyone is a candidate for orthodontic treatment. Depending on your specific needs, veneers or crowns may be a more suitable option. At SmileBox, we offer a wide range of dental treatments to meet your unique needs. Take a look at our other available treatment options here.
