Dental Implants are high-grade titanium screws that are placed into the jaw bone surgically. They vary in design, they have different lengths and widths depending on the volume of bone available.

Once the Implant has been surgically placed into the jaw bone, the implant, and bone fuse together, this is called osseointegration. This process allows the implant to replicate the function of a natural tooth’s root. The implant acts as an anchor for the restorative component that is designed to replace the missing tooth, this is usually a fixed crown, bridge, or denture.

  • If you have a single missing tooth, some missing teeth, if your dentist has told you that you have “hopeless” teeth that are to be removed, or you no longer have any remaining teeth, then dental implants may be the answer
  • Did you know that leaving a missing tooth untreated can have long-term effects? Without a tooth, your neighboring teeth may shift, causing alignment issues, bite problems, and ultimately jaw pain. Not replacing a tooth can also lead to bone loss. Without the tooth root to stimulate the bone, your jawbone can start to shrink (both in width and height), changing the shape of your face over time. Dental implants prevent all of this by replacing both the tooth and the root. It’s the best way to maintain your oral health long-term.
  • How do implants work? At the area of the missing tooth/teeth, we place a titanium post into your jaw bone – which is completely biocompatible, meaning your bone will gradually grow around it and fuse to it. This makes the implant super sturdy, strong and it won’t move. This creates a strong foundation for your new tooth. This whole process of the implant fusing with your bone can be anywhere between 3-6 months.
  • Once the implant has fused to your bone, we attach a custom-made crown which is designed perfectly to match your natural teeth.
  • The result? A brand-new tooth that’s just as strong as your natural ones. You can chew, speak, and smile with confidence!”
  • Here at SmileBox Implant and Cosmetic Center, we offer many implant solutions from replacing one single missing tooth to many missing teeth. If you have no teeth remaining, you can opt for implant supported removable overdentures, and even fixed solutions like the All-on-4, All-on-6 systems. With these systems, your dentures are locked on to the implants in your jaw.

What are Dental Implants?

A long-term, life-changing solution for missing teeth.

As an independent dental clinic, we have the option to choose what implants we use to provide the best outcome for our patients. At SmileBox Dental we offer two brands of Dental Implants, Ostemm (Dental Implant brand from South Korea) and Straumann (Dental Implant brand from Switzerland).

Advantages and Disadvantages of Dental Implants

  1. Improved Appearance: Dental implants look and feel like natural teeth, giving you a more attractive and confident smile.
  2. Increased Comfort: Unlike dentures, which can slip or cause discomfort, dental implants are fixed in place and function like your natural teeth.
  3. Improved Speech: With dental implants, you can speak more clearly and confidently than with missing teeth or ill-fitting dentures.
  4. Improved Eating: Dental implants allow you to eat a wider variety of foods, as they function like natural teeth and can handle more pressure.
  5. Long-Lasting: Dental implants are durable and can last for many years, with proper care and maintenance.
  6. Protects Oral Health: Dental implants can help preserve bone density and prevent further tooth loss, protecting your overall oral health.
  1. Cost: Dental implants can be more expensive than other tooth replacement options, such as dentures or bridges.
  2. Time-Consuming: Dental implants require multiple appointments and a healing period before the final prosthetic tooth or bridge can be placed.
  3. Surgical Procedure: Dental implant placement requires a surgical procedure, which carries some risks, such as infection or damage to surrounding teeth or tissues.
  4. Not Suitable for Everyone: Not everyone is a good candidate for dental implants, as they require healthy gums and sufficient bone density to support the implant.
  5. Potential Complications: While rare, dental implants can experience complications, such as implant failure or implant-associated infections.
  6. Maintenance: Dental implants require regular maintenance and care, such as daily brushing and flossing, and regular dental check-ups to ensure their longevity.

All on 4 implants

All-on-4 dental treatment is a specialised dental implant procedure that is designed to replace a full arch of missing teeth with just four dental implants. The procedure involves the placement of four dental implants into the jawbone at specific angles, which provides a secure foundation for a custom-made bridge or denture.

The procedure is typically performed under local anaesthesia, and can be completed in a single day, making it a popular choice for you if you want to avoid the inconvenience of multiple appointments.

Advantages and Disadvantages of

All-on-4 Implants

The All-on-4 treatment offers many advantages over traditional dental implant procedures, including:

1. Fewer Implants: All-on-4 requires only four dental implants, compared to traditional implant procedures that require up to eight or more implants. This makes the procedure less invasive and more cost-effective.

2. Improved Stability: The angled placement of the implants in the All-on-4 procedure maximises contact between the implant and the jawbone, providing superior stability and strength.

3. Immediate Results: Patients can receive their final bridge or denture on the same day as the implant procedure, which means they can leave the dental office with a fully restored smile.

4. Reduced Healing Time: The All-on-4 procedure requires less healing time than traditional implant procedures, as the angled placement of the implants reduces the need for bone grafting, which is a time-consuming and invasive procedure

5. Increased Comfort: With All-on-4, patients experience less discomfort and fewer complications than with traditional implant procedures, as the procedure is less invasive and requires fewer implants.

However, like any dental procedure, the All-on-4 treatment also has some potential drawbacks to consider, such as:

1. Cost: The All-on-4 procedure can be more expensive than traditional dentures, although it is often less expensive than traditional implant procedures.

2. Not Suitable for Everyone: Not everyone is a good candidate for All-on-4, as the procedure requires a healthy jawbone and good oral hygiene habits.

3. Maintenance: Patients must maintain good oral hygiene and schedule regular dental appointments to ensure the longevity of the All-on-4 treatment.

4. Potential Complications: Like any dental procedure, All-on-4 can have potential complications, such as implant failure or infection.

What are All-on-6 Dental Implants?

All-on-6 dental implant treatment is a specialised procedure that involves the placement of six dental implants to support a full arch of replacement teeth. The procedure is similar to the All-on-4 dental implant treatment, but with the placement of two additional dental implants for extra support and stability.

During the All-on-6 dental implant procedure, the dentist will place six dental implants in strategic locations in the jawbone. These implants will serve as the foundation for a custom-made bridge or denture that will be attached to the implants to restore your missing teeth.

The All-on-6 procedure typically requires two or three appointments over the course of several months. The first appointment involves a thorough examination and consultation to determine your eligibility for the procedure. During the second appointment, the dental implants are placed in the jawbone under local anesthesia. After the implants are placed, there will be a healing period of several months to allow the implants to fuse with the jawbone. During this time, you may wear temporary dentures or bridges. The final appointment involves the attachment of the permanent bridge or denture to the implants.

Advantages and Disadvantages of All-on-6 Dental Implants

1. Enhanced Stability: With the placement of six dental implants, the All-on-6 treatment provides enhanced stability and support for the replacement teeth, making it a great option for patients with a more severe case of tooth loss.

2. Improved Functionality: The All-on-6 treatment allows patients to eat, speak, and smile with confidence and comfort, as the replacement teeth are securely attached to the dental implants.

3. Natural Appearance: The replacement teeth in the All-on-6 treatment are custom-made to match the patient’s natural teeth, providing a natural and aesthetically pleasing smile.

4. Immediate Results: Patients can receive their final bridge or denture on the same day as the implant procedure, which means they can leave the dental office with a fully restored smile.

1. Cost: The All-on-6 treatment can be more expensive than traditional dentures, although it is often less expensive than traditional implant procedures.

2. Healing Time: The All-on-6 treatment requires a healing period of several months to allow the implants to fuse with the jawbone, which can be a long process.

3. Not Suitable for Everyone: Not everyone is a good candidate for the All-on-6 treatment, as the procedure requires a healthy jawbone and good oral hygiene habits.

4. Potential Complications: Like any dental procedure, All-on-6 can have potential complications, such as implant failure or infection.

There are several reasons to consider traveling to Thailand to receive dental care at SmileBox dental clinic.

Thailand has become a popular destination for dental tourism, as dental care in Thailand is often more affordable than in many other countries, particularly in Europe and North America. This can make it a more accessible option for individuals who require extensive dental work or who are interested in cosmetic procedures.

In addition, We are SHA Plus certified and provide high-quality dental care to an international standard. This provides an additional level of reassurance and peace of mind.

SHA Plus is a certification program that was developed by the Thai government in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, and is designed to ensure that healthcare providers are taking all necessary precautions to prevent the spread of infection. A dental clinic that is SHA Plus certified has demonstrated that it has implemented rigorous safety measures and infection control protocols, and is regularly monitored to ensure compliance.

Travelling to Thailand for dental care can also be an enjoyable and rewarding experience. Thailand is known for its rich culture, delicious cuisine, and stunning natural scenery, one of our dental clinics is located in a popular tourist area – Thong Lor.

This can allow you to combine your dental treatment with a relaxing and enjoyable vacation, and return home with both a healthier smile and unforgettable memories.

I have lots of missing teeth, am I suitable for Dental Implants?

A: Having multiple missing teeth can impact your lifestyle, eating habits, and even your speech. Dental Implants are made for replacing missing teeth and rebuilding your confidence. They are ideal for replacing an individual tooth, multiple missing teeth, or even full mouth rehabilitation for patients who have lost all their teeth.

A: Implant dentures are dentures that are held in place by implants in the mouth. If you have loose or unstable dentures already this could be the solution for you. Implant dentures can be secured in the jaw by using as little as two implants.

A: Implant bridges are a fixed solution to replace missing teeth. They are used to replace a few missing teeth or even a full mouth of missing teeth. They provide great cosmetic results.

A: Many people believe that dental implants are painful. However, at SmileBox Dental we want your experience to be pain-free and as comfortable as possible. We use local anaesthetic for your treatment, this ensures you feel no pain throughout.

A: Dental Implants are the gold standard of dentistry, they are designed to last between 20-30 years before needing replacement.

A: Yes, it is possible to have a dental implant done in one day. There are two main approaches to same-day dental implants:

  1. Immediate Implant Placements: A dental implant can be placed immediately after a tooth extraction this approach is known as “immediate implant placement.” The tooth will be removed then immediately insert the dental implant into the same socket. However, not all cases are suitable for immediate implant placement, and the oral surgeon will assess your specific situation to determine if this option is viable.
  2. All-on-4, All-on-6, Full Mouth Rehabilitation or Teeth-in-a-Day: This technique involves placing four (or 6) dental implants in a single arch (upper or lower) to support a full set of teeth (either a fixed bridge or denture) all in one day. This approach is often used for patients who are missing all or most of their teeth and want a quick and efficient solution.

It’s important to note that not everyone is a candidate for same-day dental implants.

Your oral health, the condition of your jawbone, and other factors will determine whether this option is suitable for you.

Our Implantologists will need to complete a comprehensive consultation to assess your specific needs and to see whether you are suitable for same-day dental implants.

A: All-on-4 is a type of implant surgery that is used to maximise the use of available bone. It is a perfect treatment for full mouth rehabilitation/reconstruction using just 4 dental implants placed into the jawbone, they are placed at specific angles which provides a secure foundation for a custom-made bridge or denture. Before the surgery, the Doctor will take X-rays, photos, and scans of your mouth intra-orally and extra-orally. This is to assess the condition of the teeth, gums, bone, and surrounding soft tissues.  After this, four implants are placed into the jaw bone, then bridges are attached to the implants. This is an immediate fixed solution to missing teeth.

A: All-on-6 dental implant treatment is a specialised procedure that involves the placement of six dental implants to support a full arch of replacement teeth. The procedure is similar to the All-on-4 dental implant treatment, but with the placement of two additional dental implants for extra support and stability.

During the All-on-6 dental implant procedure, the dentist will place six dental implants in strategic locations in the jawbone. These implants will serve as the foundation for a custom-made bridge or denture that will be attached to the implants to restore the patient’s missing teeth.

The All-on-6 procedure typically requires two or three appointments over the course of several months. The first appointment involves a thorough examination and consultation to determine the patient’s eligibility for the procedure. During the second appointment, the dental implants are placed in the jawbone under local anesthesia or IV sedation. After the implants are placed, there will be a healing period of several months to allow the implants to fuse with the jawbone. During this time, patients may wear temporary dentures or bridges. The final appointment involves the attachment of the permanent bridge or denture to the implants.
